Psychology studies have shown that for all the information received by people, 83% is from eyes, 11% from ears, and the rest from other organs, and vision is definitely the most important sense for humans. This is also true for many intelligent systems ranging from smartphones to robots, autonomous driving cars, and drones. We aim at building computer vision technologies, equaling or even exceeding human visual capabilities, that can gain high-level understanding from digital images or digital videos to help the systems to do better control and decision-making.
